16 3/8" Viola by Luff, London 1979

William Luff was an influential and prolific maker of violins and violas in post-war England. After serving in the RAF during the Second World War, he worked for J & A Beare from 1946 to 1955 and went on to establish his own business in Shepherd's Bush. With a robust, clear and carrying sound, this viola is finished with rich, red-brown varnish.
