4/4 violin by Franz Xavier Werner 1820

4/4 violin by Franz Xavier Werner 1820

Werner was the assistant and pupil to Franz Geissenhof, the 'Viennese Stradivari'. This violin is comparable with Geissenhof's best work, adapting craftsmanship of Stradivari's golden period in a manner that closely reflects contemporaneous efforts by French makers including Lupot and Bernardel. This violin is in an outstanding state of preservation and features a dark, melodious tone.
