Hire Scheme Terms and Conditions

The terms and conditions of the Stringers Hire Scheme are as follows:

  • The minimum hire term is 3 months and payment equivalent to 3 months rental is payable in advance. Thereafter, monthly payments to Stringers by direct debit must continue until the instrument is returned.
  • The customer must complete a direct debit form at the point of hire to start from the first day after the expiry of the initial 3 month hire period. If payment has not reached the Stringers bank account within 5 working days of the expiration of the hire period paid for, Stringers reserves the right to charge the customer's card for the outstanding amount owing.
  • If the customer decides to end the hire contract after the initial 3 month minimum term (which is non refundable) and an instrument is returned more than 5 working days after the expiration of the hire period that has been paid for, a penalty of an additional one month's hire will be charged.
  • If the customer wishes to pay their hire fees in advance and the instrument is returned before the end of the hire period paid for, refunds will only be given for each full month remaining.
  • A hire instrument may be exchanged for a larger size at any time during the hire period at no extra cost to the customer, providing that the instrument has not been damaged in any way (see below).
  • If at any time during the period of hire the customer decides to purchase an instrument from Stringers, the initial 3 month rental fee will be deducted from the purchase price. Stringers has a designated pool of hire instruments which are not usually for sale, however, exceptions can occasionally be made subject to agreement.
  • You may end this agreement at any time, by returning the instrument to Stringers in good condition. Any damage will be charged (see below).
  • The hirer is responsible for any loss or damage to the instrument, which must be notified to Stringers immediately. The customer may take advantage of the Stringers Insurance Scheme for a small additional charge - this is highly recommended. If the customer decides not to take out insurance through Stringers, they must take full responsibility for insuring the instrument privately throughout the period of hire. If the instrument is returned in a damaged state, the hirer (or insurer) must pay the cost of repair and / or depreciation.
  • Any necessary repairs during the period of hire must be carried out only by Stringers, and paid for by the hirer (or insurer).
  • If the hirer defaults on any payment, or fails to comply with these terms and conditions, Stringers in London may terminate this agreement by giving written notice. The instrument must then be returned.
  • It is the customer's responsibility to inform Stringers of any change of postal and e-mail address and telephone number.
