Maureen Stringer: Director |
|
Maureen studied Cello at the Royal college of Music, London, and the Chigiana in Sienna.
She subsequently became a member of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Scottish Baroque Ensemble.
After 20 years of professional playing and teaching, she founded Stringers in 1992. |
Sally studied viola at the Royal Northern College of Music.
She then worked for two years as a professional violist in London and Edinburgh.
Sally joined Stringers in 2009, as Manager and Head of the violin and viola department. |

Kate Finlay: Assistant Manager |
Kate studied Music Technology at Edinburgh University, and was a Saturday assistant at Stringers throughout her student years.
She joined Stringers full time in 2009 and took up the position of Assistant Manager in March 2010. |

Renee Kenny: Cello Department Manager |
Renee studied cello at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music, and the Hochschule, Vienna.
She played professionally for some time before becoming a much valued cello teacher.
Renee joined Stringers in 2008 as the Cello Department Manager. |

Virginia Swinney: Part-time Consultant |
Virginia studied Music and English at Glasgow University, with violin as her first instrument.
She joined Stringers in 1997 as a trainee, and was appointed Manager of the Edinburgh shop in 2001. Virginia will be working as a Part-time Consultant for Stringers when she returns from maternity leave at the end of 2010. |

Christine Lorimer: Administrator |
|
After studying Accountancy at Adam Smith College, Christine has acquired an in-depth knowledge supporting small companies in their accounting function.
She joined Stringers in March 2010 as the company's Administrator.

Robin McHugh: Resident Luthier |
Robin was apprenticed to Derek Sanderson in Alva.
He subsequently became a Senior Lecturer in Stringed Instrument Technology.
Robin has been Resident Luthier at Stringers since 1992. |
Russel is a former student of Robin McHugh.
Apart from his work as Luthier in our Educational Department, Russel also plays violin and guitar. |

Philip Thurloe: Bow Specialist |
Philip is a maker and restorer of fine bows.
He worked for many years at Ealing Strings in London before moving north in 1987. |

Paul Bowers: Consultant Restorer |
Paul is one of Britain’s finest violin makers and restorers.
After graduating with distinction from the Newark School of Violin Making he worked for W.E. Hill & Son.
More recently he has worked as lecturer, maker and restorer and as Consultant Restorer for Stringers. |
