Viola by Just Derazey, Mirecourt, c.1880

Justin Derazey was the son of celebrated French violin maker, Honoré Derazey. He worked in Mirecourt from 1850 until his death. In 1864, he purchased the business of Nicolas Fils and in 1879 took over his father's workshop. With a striking one piece back, this viola features a rich, warm and expressive range, with complex tonal colours.
