Violin by George Withers, London, 1912

George Thomas Henry Withers (1847-1931) was the younger son of Edward Withers (I). After separating from his brother in 1878, George opened his own shop in St Martin’s Lane, and from 1891 at 22 Leicester Square. His output focussed on Stradivari and Guarneri models and he was succeeded by his sons Guarnerius and Walter George.
